Rudy “The Preacher” Dodorico just returned from a very successful trip to Colorado. Here is his trip report with some good intel on a place to stay and fish…

I fished the South Platte area (10/27-31) and had a great time. Fished the Dream Stream, 11-mile canyon, Four Mile creek and Badger Basin. I caught lots of fish and had a great time, mainly using RS2 (sizes 20-24), egg patterns, black and green zebras (sizes 20-24) and scuds (sizes 22).

The real meat of this report is a connection that allows us to fish private water near Fairplay, CO – an unknown creek and Four Mile creek.  I met Rick and Michelle, owners of Middle Fork resort. If you either camp at their RV park or rent their trailer, at a very good rate, you can have access to the creek and small ponds in their campground. You can also fish the owners ranch on Four Mile creek. The ponds are like fishing in a hatchery-guaranteed to catch fish-he has rainbows, brooks and browns

Also, there is in the works a movement to no longer allow vehicles into 11-mile canyon-there will be more regulated fishing-limited number of anglers per day and a shuttle to take you in and out-this proposal is gaining a lot of momentum but is probably a couple of years away still-
