Trips: Montauk Fishing Well

Took a trip this past weekend with Matt Thal, his buddy Brent and his Dad, we camped and fished. Here’s a short trip report.

Here are a few shots of my most recent trip to Montauk this past weekend. The fishing was good especially on Saturday were the fish were into Girdle bugs (olive & black), White jig head midges, and white crackle backs.  We landed a bunch of fish in the 14-17 inch range. Most fishing was done up near the spring.

We went down below the cable and wow has the river changed since the last time I was there. It is now deep all the way down to the bend where it’s shallow. The fishing down there was so so. But we hooked and saw some big fish.

We camped/glamped at happy pappy’s and the big highlight was the apple pie. If you’re going down call 24 hrs ahead and order their apple pie. It’s $25 and worth $30.
