Today I received a thoughtful article from John Steuterman.  He thought you would all enjoy it, so I am posting it on his behalf with his introduction below.

      ————————–

In the January 13, 2026 edition of the North Arkansas Fly Fishers monthly magazine was an article written by one of their members, Bill Spaine, titled Awe.

I felt the substance of Bill’s perspective neatly underscore the ‘why’ of fly fishing. I hope you enjoy.

I always say before you step into the water OBSERVE!! That includes observing the awe of our creator. What He has given us that too many times we just take for granted. Remember – It isn’t just about the fly fishing!

For those that did not attend the Altar/ FATC retreat last year, sign up for this year. The topic is all about experiencing the awe!!!

(sign ups will begin at the end of January)

What an inspiration, Thank you John for sharing and to Jim for passing it on. Kenny this exactly what you have been preaching to us all along. Every time I go fly fishing, I find myself more worried about how many fish I catch and if I’m doing it right or if there is anything that I could do to catch more fish, I find it much more rewarding to be able to stop look around and enjoy my surroundings. I would like to commit myself to enjoying the experience and not worry about comparing myself to anyone else. The number of fish caught or the size of the fish has nothing to do with why we’re out there. Enjoying everything that God provides for us is much more important.
