Our Membership meeting this Thursday, July 10th was a huge success. A big shout out and thank you to Sterling Short for putting together this fellowship gathering. We all met at the Crafty Chameleon in Ellisville, MO at 6:30pm and although it was to run until 8:30pm, many stayed past 9pm. The conversations were awesome, and many old heads got to meet the newbies in the fellowship.
We had several surprises during the night as long-time member Mike Harvey just returned to St Louis to live (and work) and we all enjoyed talking with him again. I am sure we will see him a lot more on the water soon. Jeff Mace the owner of Feather Craft Fly shop made an appearance and brought as a guest Son Tao. For those that don’t know Son Tao, he is one of the premier fly tiers in the world and will be tying flies at Feather Craft this Saturday, July 12th from 10am -2pm. Drop by and see his work!
We also had a raffle for our members. We were just going to raffle off a fly-fishing book but our member Ryan Young, owner of WoolyBugger Fly Company and new guide, offered his services for a free float fishing trip. Way to step forward!! So, the winner was one of our newest members – I am sure Ryan will teach him well on this trip (but he still needs to graduate!! )
I am guessing we had at least 50 attendees on this night. The Crafty Chameleon did a great job taking care of us and our waiter, Patrick, did a fantastic job serving us. We will have more of these membership social nights in the future. Don’t miss them. It’s a great time to meet all in the fellowship. Check out a few of the pics!
