Every year in July my wife likes to go to Lebanon Mo. for Fiber U. to take a couple of classes. Me being the good husband I am, I come down with her to give her moral support, ?and to fish at Bennett Spring.
This year with the event being on the weekend “after” July 4th, I thought the park would not be very crowded. Wrong again! It wasn’t like opening day, but you were lucky to have 25 or 30 yards to fish. Needless to say, with the gin clear water and the water level being low, the fishing was slow. I only managed six fish in the 2 days. On the other hand, the weather was perfect so what better way to kill some time.
I decided not to fish Sunday and as I’m writing this, I’m sitting buy the stream with my friend Jesus. What a wonderful way to enjoy nature and have some quiet time.
I also made a stop at Readings fly shop and talked to Charlie about a casting lesson and browsed around his shop. You could look around in there all day.
I wanted to check out the Ozark Hills Cabins that Kenny posted. They don’t have an office there so I called the number and spoke to Chris Benne the owner, he said it was only 15 minutes from his house and would come over and show me a couple of units. Well, I’ll tell you guys, this place is really nice. They are only 2 1/2 miles from Bennett and extremely adequate. It can easily accommodate 3-5 guys and the price with our discount will work out great for winter fishing, or anytime of the year. I’m sure I’ll be taking advantage of it.
