Matt McClure sends this trip report after his Colorado vacation and a day fishing on the famous Arkansas river just north of Buena Vista, Colorado.

Recently had the opportunity to fish the Arkansas River in Buena Vista, CO for the first time.  Flows were ideal and success was had putting some Brownies in the net.  Soft Hackles seemed to be the goto fly.  For those who haven’t been to this part of CO I highly recommend it.  On top of a Gold Medal CO stream the scenery is astounding.  Aspen trees were changing colors.  Plenty of additional activities to take part in such as sightseeing, hiking, biking, white water rafting (following spring runoff) and 4 wheeling.  A must bucket list place to visit.
