A Poem – THE DAY BEFORE OPENING DAY
by Alex Zambrano and Brian Yost
The day before opening day,
Alex and Brian made their way,
To Maramec Spring, rods in hand,
Ready to fish in the sunlit land.
The park was empty, not a soul in sight,
Just two good friends with their gear and might.
“We’ll catch ‘em all,” Alex said with glee,
“Rainbow and Browns, just wait and see!”
They fished with nymphs, casting with care,
But the fish were clever, dodging the snare.
Brian sighed, “We’re needing to go deep,
If we want those fish to bite and leap.”
So down they went, the lines did dive,
Hoping the fish would soon come alive.
A tug! A pull! A fish on the line!
They reeled in rainbows and browns just fine.
Their day was a success, no doubt about that,
Caught so many fish, wearing their FATC hat!
“Our sensei would have been proud,” they both agreed,
As the water sparkled and their hearts did proceed.
They laughed and joked under skies so blue,
A beautiful day—fishing dreams came true!
