Jerry Lybarger fished Taneycomo using the donation that Riverrun Outfitters presented to our FATC for our annual charity dinner. He took his bride, Judy, and had Carolyn of Riverrun as his guide. It looks he was out fished – as always! Check out his report.
July 13,2020. Used the “River Run Fly Shop and Outfitters” offer of a 1/2 day drift boat trip on Taneycomo for 2 that I won at our “Annual Dinner”. Although Dave Beerbower quickly said he was willing to go when I won, I had to offer my loving wife the opportunity first and she jumped. Sorry Dave. Although I love you guys, Judy comes first.
My intent was to give Judy a great experience and for her to catch some fish. I had not been to Taneycomo for about 6 years. Owner Carolyn Parker personally took on the task. 3 then 4 generators were blasting and water high – tough fishing. Very few to no one catching fish. Carolyn did everything I hoped. Guys that know me know I am not a big picture taker but did get the first one (well 3rd – I caught the 1st 2; I eventually blew a good lead and Judy put me to shame w/ Carolyn’s instruction). Judy did not understand where other boats came from all of a sudden after we caught a couple fish there – Carolyn tactfully moved them along.
Picture is Judy’s first of several fish. The little ruby dropped off the big red midge fished deep was the fly. We caught several at the “log hole” as Carolyn called it and said the log is still there (could not see log or hole as too deep but recall that is where Lew Smith lost a big one that Kenny caught a couple of hours later with Lew’s fly still in its mouth). Missed too many takes looking at scenery. I would recommend Carolyn’s folks for anyone wanting such an experience. Also gave Judy the Danna’s BBQ experience.
Seeing that it was Judy, I forgive you
