This past week was what I would call “One Crazy Trip.” We had guys going fishing on Sunday and Monday but then some canceled. So, some then fished Monday and Tuesday. Our graduation trip was on Wednesday and Thursday. But Thursday had forecast of rain which never came but the “graduate” canceled. This was the first time that the two graduates on Wednesday had to drive themselves down to Montauk. Some guys came from the west, others from the east. Some were staying Wednesday night and some Wednesday and Thursday. Phew, it was simply hard to keep track but inevitably we FISHED!
So, the main event was graduating both Tom Watson and Christopher Beahm. Kenny and Jim Craig took over the chores of instructing and the “others” that made it just went out and fished. Kenny and Jim took both Tom and Christopher to the usual area above the dam to cast, strip, swing, and dead drift. Jim said that Christopher caught a trout on his second cast – he was worried that would be bad luck for the rest of the day. But it was not. Tom had to wait until after lunch before he would bag his first trout.
Everyone one fishing on Wednesday had a good day. The afternoon was a little better fishing than the morning, but all put trout into the net. Check out the pictures for some nice shots! We ended the day between 4:30pm – 5pm. Our fellowship dinner was at Arandas’ Mexican restaurant since some were staying another night and others were headed home.
The guys that stayed some fished outside park on the Current River and others stayed in the park. Word has it that they all did well. Well, after the rains Thursday evening and Friday it looks like the park is flooded. So, check the water conditions before you go – anywhere to fish.
