Trips: North Carolina Trouting

Dave Beerbower is in North Carolina fishing the Watauga river. Here is his quick report:

Had a chance for a couple of hours of fishing this morning so I headed out to the Watauga River near the Rt. 321 bridge. Fish were rising so I started with dry flies. Caught a couple of small rainbows, but wanted bigger fish. I switched to a black leech and caught a nice rainbow and then took a very pretty 13” brook trout. Too bad I did not have more time to get a Brown for the Appalachian Slam. It was a great two hours in a beautiful spot, all to myself.
