I recently returned from a trip to Montana where I met up with my cousin for 4 solid days of fishing. He resides in Bozeman. We were on the hunt for big browns making their fall spawn run from the Missouri River up to the Madison River. Ended up we were a little early and therefore we weren’t able to catch any biggies. However we had plenty of action catching 12-16 inch bows, whitefish with a few browns mixed in. We floated in my cousins rafts 3 of the 4 days spending 2 days on the Lower Madison, 1 day on the Yellowstone and wade fished one day below Lake Ennis Dam in the Bear Creek Canyon area. On two of the floats my cousin was the pilot and we used his two man rafts. On the last day we took his individual rafts and therefore I was able to pilot my own raft. Great fun. The majority of time we would float to a small island or gravel bar, get out and use our trout spey Rods. It was great re-connecting again as we were able to also meet up in Spring this year. We made a pact to get together in the shoulder seasons every year and already looking forward to getting together in April next year.
