Lake Taneycomo has been essentially off limits because of the massive amounts of water that have been released from the Table Rock Dam. Table Rock lake is 12 feet above normal levels for this time of year. So why have they been shutting down the flow of water that it is sending into Lake Taneycomo and downstream? The word is that Bull Shoals lake which is downstream from Table Rock and Taneycomo lakes is also at full capacity. But the main worry now is the farm land after the Bull Shoals dam on the White river has too much water and can’t be “flooded” anymore. So the water is being “let out” slowly from all the reservoirs upstream. So what does this all mean? Well, it means that we are able to fish Lake Taneycomo but only at certain times. Brian Yost fished Lake Taneycomo on June 13th when he dropped his kids off at camp in the Branson area. His trip report is below. I checked the water levels for the past week at Lake Taneycomo and it looks like the Corp has had the water “off” into to Taneycomo from the early morning hours until around noonish. So if you want to fish Taneycomo take the family with you for a weekend in Branson – get up early – fish until noon – and play with the family the rest of the day. Big trout in Taneycomo. Have fun and be safe.
Here is Brian’s Report

Brian Yost swung by Lake Taneycomo after dropping kids off at camp. He entered the area right below the dam called Rocking Chair access, on the south side of the lake. With the water levels low, it was easy to wade and access the middle of the lake. It was a great time to fish, 4pm until 8pm. Besides a few boats, there were no anglers on this side of the lake. Swinging leaches, soft hackles and cerise worms were the best options for the speed of the water.
