Events: Tri-Lakes Fly Fishing Expo
Our fellowship headed to Clinton, MO on Friday, April 12th for the Tri-Lakes Fly fishing Expo. We attended last year and had to go back to this impressive event. Dan Staggenborg, Brett “Gabby” Heath, Steve Baker, and Kenny Klimes jumped on the opportunity to tie flies for the Expo. We checked into our hotel around 3:30pm and went straight to the Benson Convention Center to set up our booth. The Tri-Lakes club hosted a fish fry for us with fresh fish that their club caught earlier in the year. Great dinner with all the fixings to go with the fish.
On Saturday we got up early and got ready for the Expo. We had two long tables that were perfect for our four fly tiers. The Expo was well attended by many fly tiers and fly-fishing vendors from all over Missouri and Kansas. And we saw a few of our fellowship sponsors there too. One of our members, Jon Snider, showed up all the way from Troy, Illinois. He was visiting his mom and decided to drop by and say hello.
Our guys tied several flies throughout the day: the Barr’s Emerger, Copper John, Bennett Spring Killer, Captain Dave’s Woolybugger, the Flashback Peasant Tail Nymph. We had many visitors to our table as we discussed fly tying and fly fishing. We met some super people that love to fly fish. If you get the chance to visit or tie at a fly-fishing expo don’t pass it by. We should do it again next year so if you tie flies sign up for the Tri-Lakes Expo!
