The FATC was honored to have fly tier, Michael Burgess, teach a class in fly tying on Tuesday evening. Michael is a renowned fly tier, and you can see his flies on his Instagram site ”getrealflytying.” Michael ties real life like flies and even ties those tiny size 28 – 30 size flies with perfection.
Over twenty FATC members joined together to watch and listen to Michael talk of his special techniques that allows him the tie some impressive flies. This night he treated us by tying his Caddis emerger fly that looked so life like that several guys said they would eat it! Michael has fished all over the United States and shared with us his five flies he would not be without. His number one fly? It is the Copper John in all sizes including size 20.
The FATC presented Michael with an official FATC logo cap, and he gave the FATC a box of his special flies for our Charity dinner raffle. Afterwards several members of the Board of Directors took Michael out for an adult beverage to thank him for coming out to teach us. In the future we will have more unique events, so please do not stay home, and miss them. You will learn a lot!
What an awesome evening! You should not have missed it!
