Events: Fly Tying – Another Big Night

Last night (1-20-2026) was a blast, with a fantastic turnout. Twenty-one fly tyers learned to tie three highly productive flies that you can only get by learning to tying them yourself. They’re not on the internet, not on YouTube, and not available for sale anywhere.

A huge thank-you to the flies’ inventor, designer, and guest tyer, Scott Payne. Thanks to him, we are now well stocked with the Electric Big HurtLittle White Thing, and Canker Sore. Scott also shared detailed insight and answered plenty of questions about how to fish these patterns effectively.

Let’s keep the momentum going! Our next fly-tying session is 7:00 PM on February 17 at CPC – Commons, 14885 Clayton Road, Chesterfield, MO 63017.

We’ll be tying two excellent patterns. First up is the sweet and easy Chewy Stone Fly, followed by the highly effective Blow Torch. The Blow Torch is a wildly popular competition fly and works extremely well in Missouri waters, as well as the Spring River and many western rivers. Don’t go fly fishing without a few of each in your box.
