The FATC was invited to participate in the first Rockwood Reservation Winter in the Woods Festival. It used to be the Maple Sugar festival but the Rockwood reservation team expanded it to include more than just tapping the maple trees for sugar. There were many exhibits throughout the reservation on this day and the FATC was one of them.
We tied flies for the kids and grownups to show them some activities they can do when it gets cold outside. The festival had a great turn out as the weather broke from it’s bone chilling temperatures a few days before and hit over 60 degrees on this Saturday. It was announced after the event an estimated 1300 people participated. A big thank you to our fly tiers (Terry Seaton, Tim McCoy, Jim Craig, ‘Gabby” Heath, Tim Welsh, Martin Jones, Mike Oldani, and Kenny Klimes) who spent the day demonstrating how to tie a “woolybugger fly” to the kids and parents. We reached several interested men that showed interest in joining the FATC. All flies tied by our FATC tiers will be donated.
