Our fly tying sessions led by Jim Craig have been going great. We meet twice per month on Tuesday evenings from 7pm – 9pm and learn not only how to tie certain flies that we use but how to fish them. This past week we even “geeked out” on using peacock herl with our flies. Jim taught us some pretty cool techniques on how to properly use and tie peacock herl. For fly tiers peacock herl is one of our mainstay fly tying materials. AND we learned maybe it’s better to buy the peacock feather as oppose to a bag of peacock strung herls – interesting!
We meet at the CPC Commons in Chesterfield, MO (check the address on our FATC TeamUp calendar) which offers us a great facility to tie. Plus we have anywhere from 3-6 FATC members join us from out of state on Zoom! Come join the class even if you don’t tie – you will learn a lot in the two hours. I DO!!
