KeymasterI’ve had the dark blue, and the brown. The dark blue are great in bright sunlight. But, I find the brown to be much better over all for bright days, and the dim lighting of early morning, overcast, and evening fishing. The dark blue are just too dark for those low-light conditions. I know guys like amber too, but I don’t have any experience with them.

KeymasterWhat a great idea. I volunteer Mike Oldani. He needs practice tying knots and netting fish. Also, he would probably make a killer sub sandwich.
Funny thing is, he’s a nice enough guy that he would really do it.

KeymasterBill, that makes us brother-in-vice.

KeymasterThanks Bill!

KeymasterI KNEW it! The truth cannot be hidden. Ha ha!

KeymasterIn case anyone is wondering, the last sentence in my previous post was supposed to read, “Watch out Son Tao!”
Bill, are you sure that was dog hair?

KeymasterI also want to add my thanks to Kenny for putting together yesterday’s fly tying tournament. Even though I got the worst draw of materials (probably on purpose) and Matt McClure got all the goods stuff in his material bag (also, probably on purpose).
But seriously, it was fun to see what we could create with a random selection of materials. It was an evening of great banter. Once the pictures of the flies are posted on the FATC website, you will see that we have some pretty talented fly tiers in the group. Watch our Son Tao!

KeymasterOh, that is too funny!

KeymasterWelcome to the dark side. Hee hee.
Seriously, come to a fly tying class. We can give you lots of “ad-vice.”

KeymasterBob,
I use Dr. Scholls inserts I get at Walmart. I get the mid-priced ones, about $15-16. They make fishing all day heavenly.

KeymasterHi Martin,
I use sinking-tip leaders just a couple times a year here in MO when the water is fast and usually dirty. Typically I am swinging WBs. I have tired leaders of several sinking speeds. 3-4 inches per second have worked the best for me. I tried a 7 IPS leader once. Holy cow, it went so deep so fast I just kept getting snagged.

KeymasterWhat’s a caddis?
(Sorry, this was just getting too serious.)
I would probably swing a brown soft hackle, size 16.
I eagerly await the reveal!

KeymasterThanks Tim, I found it practical. Moreover, I think I found the perfect Christmas present for the Sensei who has everything – the “EZ-P Zipper.” Very fashionable.

KeymasterHey Bill,
Finding gear sale announcements on the calendar is a little tricky. It shows up on just one day of the month, whichever day the poster chooses for the post. Bob’s post was dated July 31. You will find in on the calendar on that day.Hope you are staying cool,
JRC
