ParticipantOne you don’t hear much of is Hans Weilenmann. He has several videos that deal with fly common fly tying operations which tend to get glossed over in most videos, such as tying off materials, reverse hackling, etc. They are very well done.
Kelly Galloup (at his Slide Inn site) is another who is good with pointing out some of the subtleties of tying – if you’ve got the time.

ParticipantI have used the micro swivel on my streamer setup this winter and caught several 18- 20″ browns with no problem. I’ve been thinking of using one on a two nymph setup to see if it will help with twisting tags but haven’t gotten around to that yet.
I am a big fan of tippet rings. I carry them on a safety pin. I leave them on the pin when tying them on the leader. There’s enough space to thread 3X through a 2mm ring while it is on the pin. This gives me something to hold the ring while cinching the knot.

ParticipantHere’s a link to Youtube Kelly Galloup tying his Ant Acid. At the end he talks about setting legs. This has helped me. Two LIGHT wraps over the legs to set them where you want; then two wraps immediately in front. Do not pull tight until you’ve completed the two wraps in front.

ParticipantYarn indicators are my favorite. They float well, minimal casting interference, importantly they slide up and down tippet easily, and most importantly (at least in my mind) are cheap. Check this out:
