Thanks, F@TCTrout, I’ll try to remember that next time. No promises though.

I have thought about trying the inserts after reading a suggestion in another forum. I never got around to it but now you have me thinking about it again. Thanks, Bob.

Fly, Fish, Food did a tour of the Whiting facilities last year. It was very informative. It is not just a chicken farm that’s for sure.

I also get Midcurrent. Hatch is another online source I receive. Are there any other sources out there we could use?

I recommend watching all of the videos in the series. They are pretty informative.

Hi Tim, I hunted up a video on the life cycle of scuds and sowbugs. This is part of a series I find useful.

I understand they aren’t very good swimmers so they can be fished either with weights and bead-headed flies are ok. Fish them as you would a scud but you can strip scuds but shouldn’t strip sow bugs.

    Hi, Tim,
I would first drop down in size to a 16, then lengthen my tippet. If that didn’t work I would go to a lighter tippet.

I tried this technique out on the last FATC fishing trip and it worked pretty well. By the way, I did not choke myself in the process.

I had included the Son of San Juan worm in the soft plastics because of the tying tutorial on our site that called for rubber material. Thank you for getting clarification on the regs from the MDC for us. Many of us don’t even consider calling them when we have questions, In the past, I have called them and they have always been glad to answer any questions.

Hi, Barry, According to the regulations Soft plastics which would include the Squirmy worm and the Son of San Juan would fall under are prohibited in the Blue ribbon areas of streams. Foam flies like the Chernobyl Ant and beetles are allowed.

The only school I know offers the Sensei degree is TSHK. The School of Hard Knocks. You also have to look the part, Old and Wizened. Like our Sensei.
