Hi, Bob, You can usually straighten a leader by pulling the line thru your fingers and building a little heat from the friction and that will help straighten your leader. They make leader straighteners that have a rubber pad and a leather pad to pull the leader thru. I use one of those, it gives me a better grip on the line. Be careful pulling the leader thru those. Some think the rubber burns the line and weakens it.  If your leaders haven’t been properly stored you may just want to get new ones.

    Hi, Tony,

You sound like you would fit right in with this group. Have you ever fished the Eleven Point Or the North Fork of the White? I am sure some of the members have or been planning too.

I try to fish enough that I run out of tippet before a year goes by.

Hi, Guys, 24’s and 26’s, Wow. I have tied some 22’s Barr’s Emergers and I can’t get them on the tippet half the time. I can’t see well enough I guess even with the cheaters but I like fishing them and I believe that smaller may be the best way to fish on the Current some days. There are a few flies in our tying page that I want to try but haven’t attempted. I purchase some Big Eye hooks from Orvis so that will help with the dry flies. I didn’t realize Daiichi made them as well. Now I need big eye emerger and nymph hoof heavy enough for the monster Brown I plan to catch.

Hi, Steve, I usually try to stretch my line out the day before a trip. I’m lucky that my wife will give a helping hand. I tie the line around her waist and let her run around the field and try to land her. She usually puts up a good fight but we are both getting up there in age and she tires quicker than she used to. If your wife isn’t the sporting type take a towel and wrap it around a tree, then run the line around it and back away and pull to stretch the line. It’s a simpler way to stretch your line out but not as much fun.

    Jim,

Do you think they were Kenny’s?

Jim, you are certainly correct about Kenny’s efforts and the tournament I have to disagree about you getting the worst materials. I feel confident in saying my selection of materials were the absolute dregs of the  sweepings from Kenny’s floor.  I literally found dog hair among the contents of the bag. Still, I did include them in the fly so I still qualified as a contender.

It seems that we get new rivers every couple of months.

    Hey Tim,

Do you have a lifetime Missouri fishing license? If you do the trout tag is included.

I like the Air Lock indicators over the Thing-A-Ma-Bobbers they don’t kink the line. I am not sure what part color plays but fish do see color. I have had trout hit orange indicators more than any other color.

I found this posting in a forum I thought was a good discussion on waxing ferrules. I do wax mine after a disaster with a friends rod years ago. https://www.theflyfishingforum.com/forums/fiberglass-fly-rods/715773-stuck-section.html

Steve, Tim made a good suggestion. Check and see if Amazon has used books with that title. You can save a lot of money that way. Also, did you look in the education area of this site? They have some information on the various insects there.

I bet the sophisticated browns and rainbow fight over your fly when you wear that vest. Now that the word is out I’m sure Matt will be sporting one soon.
