ParticipantI have bought a reels, waders, flies, clothes and miscellaneous type gear from STP. Rods from Trident and frequently visit The upcountry site. I should have been more specific. I meant buying rods and reels from an individual. I was wondering if anyone had gone down this road.

ParticipantSeems like the Vibram soles with studs are really popular. Mine has been back ordered until February. Late January at the earliest. Darn. So far looking these boots over I like what I see construction is tops and theses replaceable soles really seem sturdy. Taking off the felt and putting the rubber soles that came with the boots was tough. They are on nice and tight, just like you want in a wading boot.

ParticipantI bought the Darkhorse BOA boots while the sale at Feathercrafts was on and saved thirty bucks. Also ordered the Vibram studded soles. They look like they will be really good on our Missouri streams. They have an aggressive tread pattern that has more space between the lugs so they shouldn’t get gravel lodged in them and of course, the studs will help on the bedrock and slick logs.

ParticipantMr. Mcclurey, which pair of studded soles did you get? They have a pretty wide selection.

ParticipantIt sounds like I am in the same boat, or shoes as you. I am looking at Korkers and probably would have a pair by now if I had moved faster. My size is popular. I like the ability to change the soles when they get worn or you want a different type of sole. I also would like to know what others like or don’t like about the BOA system.

ParticipantFishing the little creeks is a great way to sharpen your skills and get away from the large crowds at the parks. Right now the creeks are shallow and very clear but if we can get a little rain to raise and color the water get there as soon as possible. Those trout will really turn on.

ParticipantI have been using Redington Sonic Pro waders for three years and despite my clumsiness are holding up well. I did split and tear them during a fall and sent them in for repair. Redington had them fixed and back very quickly. Good customer service for I believe $60.00.

ParticipantTim, thanks for the ideas. How do you tie in these materials? Do you wrap the CDC as you would a grouse feather? Are there any videos showing how to use these materials on soft hackles?

ParticipantI have and use the Thingamabobber, the one with a stopper. They are easy to move and come in different sizes. The downside is some of them slip. Otherwise, I like the simplicity of the system. I have and do use the New Zealand system but I don’t like the way it kinks the leader. I am now going to try the system similar to the Thingamabobber but with the screw on stopper. The downside to this is obvious, if you drop the top it’s useless. I suppose there isn’t a perfect system so I keep looking.
