A tip to prepare your wool indicators (New Zealand System) to float all day.
Those of us who use the very sensitive, New Zealand indicator system usually will put some type of floatant paste on the wool to help it float better and longer. Most just put the floatant paste on their fingers and rub it into the wool. Think about it – this just coats the outside of the wool indicator fibers.
Try this tip!! Get a popsicle stick or tongue depressor and add a piece of velcro (the rough or hook side). Add floatant paste to the velcro and “comb” the floatant paste into the wool indicator. This technique will get floatant on all the fine fibers of the wool. Your indicator will not only float better and longer but you will be able to use more weight (split shot) if needed .
