Yesterday, Friday December 27, my son-in-law Travis and I made a last minute trip to Montauk State Park. Travis had never fished there before and I have been working with him over the last few years to develop an interest in fly fishing.
We fished the upper part of the park in the AM and I caught a few fish. Mostly on Cracklebacks and Tigertails. Travis did not have the same luck.
We at lunch at the traditional FATC picnic tables and decided we would head to the middle section of the park just above the spillway. There we had better luck in the PM. Travis turned into a Trout Magnet in the afternoon with an olive woolybugger. He caught fish after fish.
As the clock was winding down toward 4 pm, several fisherman were making their way behind us back to their cars. Who do I see walking down the water but Sid (the Mayor of Montauk). I introduced him to my son-in-law and we had quite the conversation.
What a pleasant surprise to run into a fellow FATC member on a nice Friday afternoon on the water.

Mike,
On the drive home, Travis was asking me about the FATC and Kenny’s classes so maybe a seed has been planted. I hope so cause he really seems to enjoy the fly fishing and he has a nice cast too.

How about in an airport in another state – wearing your FATC cap or shirt – and a total stranger comes up to you and says, ” I love your web site!” Happens all the time!
