I attended our FATC fly tying on Thursday evening, a great time! Looking ahead, we will be tying Griffith’s Gnat, another great fly. Planning ahead I took inventory on my supply of grizzly hackle. All I have is a few feathers of size 18 left in a value pack. I am looking for a range of saddle hackle sizes from 16-20. I could just buy 3 Whiting Value Packs @ $20.00 each or $60.00. I am looking for a better deal. Any ideas?

Tim, Go to the Fly, Fish, Food website. Then go to the feathers and hackle department on the site and go to flash hackle. if you scroll thru the site they have pictures and descriptions of saddles that are graded by Whiting and sized by the owners of the shop. They have a good video on whiting and grading hackle. They did have a Grizzly midge saddle with feathers sized 16-20. the prices are ok I think though I haven’t bought any saddles. The bronze saddle the have may give you 500 or more flies but I would call and inquire about it before buying. It’s possible someone may be willing to split it with you. Looking at all of the saddles is like looking at fly tyers porn.
