      If you are of a certain age like me when the eyes don’t focus as we’ll and fingers are stiff with a dose of old Mr. Arthur-rigis, here is a tip on an easy way to put a bead on (especially 3/32 and smaller): Place hook in vise jaws eye up and pointed at the 10:30 position on the clock. Pick up a bead with needle nosed pliers or forceps and slide the
      bead onto the upturned hook.

      Good Idea> You can also try using a plunger style hackle pliers to hold your hook and either use a bead forceps or just “swoop” the hook into the bead hole as it sits on your fly tying desk. Check out the beads and cones video on our Fly Tying “Tips” page.
