What’s up with the Montauk gauges? An inch and a half of rain and the indicator goes to 6.8?

An inch and a half of rain in an hour and a half period – oh yeah, it’s going up!!!

we needed rain bad – wait a couple days and get on down there.  Bet the river will look different!!

I couldn’t wait so I went to Montauk today and it was a little murky and just about everything has changed. The bottom in many places is soft and steep so watch your footing. I caught 5 fish, two nice ones, two fish first thing in the morning on dries and the rest on nymphs and the cirrus worm. I talked to some people who were camping there and they were evacuated at 10:00 and let back in around 5:00 in the morning. Their site didn’t flood.

I’m thinking about running down there tomorrow.  The rain today doesn’t seem to be moving the gauges too much.  I guess maybe I’ll check in the morning and make a game time decision.
