      I am looking for recommendations for magnifying lamps for my tying station. What do you use? I currently have a separate lamp and magnifier and think I would be able to see better with a combination set up.

      Bill, not sure if this would fit your needs. Martin was using a headband magnifying light, at one of the fly tying sessions. I thought it was cool and, very portable. I sent you a email with the product link.

      Thanks, Mike, This would work great for the tying class. I believe that for my home bench a regular magnifying lamp would be more comfortable. I found a lamp on Amazon that should work. It is made by Ott. I have read other tyers like them. Still open to suggestions.

      Get LASIK surgery!!

      Just kidding (not)… I use one that I picked up from Cabelas (http://www.cabelas.com/product/Deluxe-Magnifying-Lamp/1439374.uts?slotId=0). It has a fluorescent light in it but I find you must be able to attach it on a desk from behind not the side as in the picture. It’s clunky but works at my desk. Just can’t take it with you.

      I took a trip To JoAnns fabrics to check out the Ott lights with magnifiers and they had a few that were marked 50% off. I went home and found one online even cheaper so I ordered it and one that I can where at the fly tieing class. Got it on Amazon Prime for 0 bucks because my wife is a compulsive reader and buys books for our Kindles. Still got money left over for tieing supplies.

      I wound up with an Ott 30 led floor lamp with magnifier. really lights up the work area and leaves me the room on the table. I also picked up a go-go gadget headlamp magnifier for the fly tying class. If it had arms it would be perfect.

      I think Master Klimes wrote an article in the fly shop section about magnifiers to wear when you are tying at another place besides your fly tying desk at home. It seems he likes them. Check out his article!!

      I hear he is a fairly good fly tier and fly fisher……..
