  One fun technique in fly fishing is swinging soft hackle flies, which are swung in the film to a fish sipping just under the surface.
  The “take” practically yank the rod out of your hand.
  One of the most productive colors is orange (along with yellow).
  Recently while visiting friends at Lake of the Ozarks I spied this colorful guy on a seat cushion and snapped its picture.
  It may be one reasons fish are apt to take an orange soft hackle fly !

  A little science (perhaps a little too much…)
  
  This fly is in the genus Stenacron. Maybe Stenacron interpunctatum. That species specifically has the common name of the stenacron mayfly. In the genus Stenacron, once you know it is a Heptageniidae, the dark pigmentation on the top middle part of the wing is pretty diagnostic. Also the dark crossveins near the forewing attachment point are a tip off. Overall, the mayflies in the genus Stenacron as well as a couple other species are referred to as Light Cahills…
