Another couple along with my wife and I are going to spend a few days in Late October at the Echo Bluff State park just north of Eminence Missouri. I’ve read a couple of articles about catching smallies in Sinking Creek which runs just behind the lodge at Echo Bluff and is a tributary of the Current River. My plan is to spend time on Sinking Creek but also fish the Current River for smallies and Trout south of Akers Ferry. We will be wade fishing and the fishing time may be limited due to entertaining the wife’s. If anyone has any suggestions on fishing for smallies and or trout in this area I’d be very grateful if you could share your tips with me.
Thanks in advance Steve Baker

Steve,
I was at Echo Bluff last summer 2019. I had the best luck wet wading upstream of the lodge in a deep hole. I caught lots of smallies on deep red small crawfish lures. Also caught a few on all black small spinners.
good luck.

Hi, Steve,
I have fished the Current at and below Two Rivers where the Jacks Fork enters the Current and it gets big down in that area. Fishing without a boat would be tough I feel. Why don’t you try the Jacks Fork River? It is well known for its Smallmouth fishing and should be fun fishing with a fly rod. Crayfish, streamers, and Woolybuggers would be the flies to use.
