Any one thought about are tried fly fishing for carp? I tried a couple of times last summer at Busch. My goal originally was just to cast to pan fish. You know got a bug in my hiney to get out and throw some flies. Well the pond I picked had a few tailing carp. I had a few WoolyBuggers with me and made a few halfhearted cast with no luck. Then I did a little research on carp flies. Pretty simple ties. I tied up a few carp bugs and went out again. No luck. But I am willing to do it again. Mad River Outfitters is in the process of running their 15 part video series if interested. I have been watching it. I was surprised at the big name fly fisherman that enjoy carpin.

Hi Tim,
Absolutely, I’m interested in a catching a carp on the fly. It’s on my bucket list to do this summer. I tried a couple times last summer, no luck. Thanks for the info on the video series.
I’ll been interested if anyone would like to share some locations where it would be best to catch carp on the fly? Tim with your research what are the names of flies that work best for carp and technique?
Tim you peaked my interest to get on the water to do some Carpin on the fly.?Take care.

Me too, I think carp would be a blast. I caught one, years ago on a dry fly. The carp flies I have seen look a lot like Kenny’s euro nymphs, but nicer.

I just recalled a conversation about carp fishing Creve Coeur Lake so there is another option.
