Mike, The cdc oiler puffs is what you want. This is because the feathers are located near the oil gland and are completely soaked in the ducks natural water proofing. Wings tied with cdc puffs have natural movement because there is no central quill.

May I suggest that we do a search on CDC “Cul de Canard” duck butt feathers to better understand what we are tying with. Great feathers, I love the stuff. There is info “TYING with CDC” by Hans Weilenmann, I found on line.
