These late go trips are not bad.  Get up at a normal time and get home at a normal time.  Of Course, you have to go to Maramec Spring park to do it. It’s only a little over an hour away. But if you arrive around 10:30 am and leave at 4pm, you are pretty much done for the day, at least when it’s as cold as it has been.  Dave Beerbower and Rudy Dodorico joined me (Kenny Klimes) for a half day on the water Tuesday. Yes, it was cold but not too bad – if you are dressed properly.  I will talk about that in the Fly Shop – again – and soon.  Maramec Spring park is fishing well. Big fish are being caught. I pulled in a 19 inch rainbow near one of the waterfalls in the park. Dave, Rudy and I all caught fish this day and did it within a four hour trip.  If you want to or can only fish for just a half day, please let your FATC know and I’m sure others will join you. The big fish will only be in the park until February 11th. That’s when the parks close in wait for the bait fisherman who will take them home for supper on March 1st. Yes, I get it! It’s cold. But it’s not that cold and the fishing has been very good!!  Give it a try.
