Our own Rick Doerr headed to the Grand Canyon for a hike down into the canyon – He also brought his fly rod! Here’s his report from Bright Angel Creek.
Bright Angel Creek, 6.5 hour hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon.
The Bright Angel Creek Trout Reduction Project started in 2002, and they have removed over 80% of the trout. I felt very fortunate to catch a couple of them in the hour I had for fishing. I watch several rising but conditions were to windy for dries. They liked the P&P midge and Pats rubber legs. I tried several dries but casting was tough and the creek was very narrow and thick with brush.
PS: Caught them on a Tenkara rod.
