Trips: Heat Slows Montauk

Jim Franke sends this report from Montauk (Thursday) as he fished with Sid Aslin and Gary Elliott:

“The fishing was extremely slow, although the spincasters seemed to do okay. I’m thinking of starting a new group – “Spincasters at the Crossing”. The few I got were on zebra midges and caddis emergers. We got a few hits on Yellow Salley and Elk Hair Caddis, but weren’t able to set the hook, even after saying “God save the Queen”. The highlight was the fried chicken and coconut cream pie at the Barn Restaurant and Grill. I’m sorry your weren’t able to join us. Perhaps we can get in a trip when the temperatures moderate a bit.”
