I am sitting at home because of the flu going around our area and while I am not going fishing I am shopping. I had to buy a new computer. The one I am typing this on has to be eight years old. It normally sits on the tying table so I can watch videos of people that can actually tie flies. I came across a fly rod on sale at Madison River Fishing Company. It is the Edge Made by Gary Loomis. He used to own the G. Loomis fly rod company that he sold to Shimano. The word is these are really fine rods that sold for $850 or more and now you can get one for $375. I have no idea why the low price, probably not advertised by TFO who was the dealer for them. Check them out look for reviews and make your own decision.

Mike this is NOT a G Loomis rod. Gary Loomis sold the name along with the company to Shimano. This was his first fly rod since he sold the company, a no-compete clause in the sale I heard. So TFO was supposedly selling or handling the merchandising but the word wasn’t getting out. I don’t know if he is getting out of the fly rod game or if he wants to release a new version. His main business is, or was making rod blanks for other companies. That’s what I know of the rod company. While I am at it I forgot Mystic Rod company has a buy one get one free on their Reaper rods. Their five weight gets good reviews if I hadn’t blown my money on a computer I would look at a 3 weight and a six.
