Trips: Parks Empty under Quarantine

Here’s a fishing report from Martin Jones who got cabin fever and went fishing at Montauk State park.

“Kenny,
Hope you are doing well.  I wanted to give you a recap of my recent fishing trip down to Montauk on last Friday April 10th.
I mad a solo trip this day and arrived at Montauk around 9:15am.  Temperature was around 42 degrees when I began fishing and was about 52 degrees when I finished my day around 5:00pm.  The stream was clear with water levels seeming about normal. The sky was clear all day with a beautiful bright blue sky all day.  I pretty much had the stream to myself, but did encounter about 6 to 8 other fisherman throughout the day.  I included a pic of the parking lot where my car was the only vehicle there (other than the park workers vehicles across the way……..I’ve never seen it like this before!)
I’ve included a pic of the various flies I tried throughout the day.  The ones on the right of my patch were the producers.  The various tungsten bead worms were the more productive, but the midge, cased caddis, and the dry fly also produced.  I think I ended up getting six into the net with another two on, but failed to get to the net.  I considered it a pretty productive day for me.
What a beautiful Spring day it was!  All in all it was a very good day to be back on the stream!
Regards,
Martin Jones”
